The Ledger Quarterly Digest – Issue No. 1 – June–August 2026.

Over the past three months, The Ledger has followed Laveau through heat, rumor, violence, music, business, medicine, scandal, and the kind of public events that remind us why this city is never as quiet as it pretends to be.

This first Quarterly Digest gathers our coverage from June to August 2026: student safety debates, local institutions, clinic and asylum interviews, business features, community gatherings, Bayou Brawls, strange rumors from the fog, and the restless life of Laveau’s streets, bars, docks, and back rooms.

We are fully aware that this is only a partial coverage. Laveau is larger, louder, and stranger than any single issue can contain. There are many more events, people, places, businesses, conflicts, and stories within this community that deserve attention, and we intend to cover more of them in the near future.

To the citizens, readers, business owners, organizers, witnesses, troublemakers, and generous liars of Laveau: thank you for the support, encouragement, tips, patience, and occasional threats.

And a special thanks to those who donated toward the newsroom air conditioner. Your contribution may not have saved journalism, but it did help us survive the summer.

Finally, our thanks to the mechanically minded guy who offered to repair our antique typewriter, a cherished relic of the newsroom.
